Life inside the circuit
Eagle Farm’s infield became the setting for a major stabling development designed by stadium specialist Populous. A central challenge was preserving spectators’ views of horses around the circuit while introducing a substantial working complex inside it. The design incorporated stables, trainers’ offices, washdown areas and horse walkers. This makes the centre of the racecourse an active part of daily racing operations, rather than simply open ground.
Beyond the raceday
Vehicle and pedestrian tunnels connect Eagle Farm’s infield facilities with the surrounding racecourse. The project also introduced parking, an entrance pavilion and a large video screen, bringing public access and stable operations into the same redevelopment. The tunnels are an important part of understanding the layout: people and vehicles can reach the centre without treating the racing surface as an ordinary road crossing.
