Morphettville’s infield includes wetlands created during the venue’s redevelopment. Another major change came when racing from Victoria Park and Cheltenham was transferred here, increasing the demands on the grass. A second circuit, the Parks track, was introduced to share that workload. The Parks circuit held its first meeting in June 2009.
Black Caviar brought a remarkable sequence to Morphettville in 2012. Her victory in the Robert Sangster Stakes took her unbeaten record to twenty, and she returned two weeks later to make it twenty-one in the Goodwood. Both successes were achieved with Luke Nolen aboard. Those visits connect the course with a celebrated sporting story that extends beyond any single season’s results or local roll of honour.
