The Weidenpesch park
Cologne’s racecourse is part of the Weidenpescher Park, a substantial green area established through the efforts of the city’s racing club. Bankers, industrialists and merchants were among the founders who supported the project. The setting reflects that wider civic ambition: a sporting venue within a park rather than an isolated track.
Architecture with history
Architect Otto März designed the original racecourse buildings, and the surviving grandstands and older structures still give the site much of its character. Later additions took their cue from this established architecture. The result is a venue where the historic buildings remain visible within the working racecourse.
