Racing and the resort
Deauville’s racing identity developed alongside its seaside resort. Summer brings visiting horses and racing people into a town already shaped by holidays, hotels and the beach. France Galop’s guide even describes horses exercising by the sea in the early morning. The training centre remains active beyond summer, while autumn fixtures and an all-weather track extended the calendar.
The bloodstock season
Deauville’s racing season is closely associated with the bloodstock business. The yearling sales bring breeders, owners and buyers to the town, adding another layer to the summer gatherings at the racecourse. Horses seen here may be starting their story in the sale ring or already competing on the track.
