Hanshin’s turf layout contains both inner and outer circuits, with the outer oval substantially longer than the inner one. The official specifications also distinguish alternative rail positions, which change the measured circuit length and available width. This makes the course more varied than a single oval on a simple map.
Hanshin also contains a separate dirt circuit and a steeplechase course, showing the breadth of activity accommodated within the venue. The dirt oval sits apart from the two turf routes rather than replacing them, while the jumping layout has its own configuration. For visitors, the several rails visible from the stands belong to different sporting purposes.
