Twinkle after dark

Oi is widely known as Tokyo City Keiba, or TCK, and its evening meetings carry the name Twinkle Racing. Night racing gives this urban venue a different atmosphere from the daytime meetings more familiar at Japan’s central racing courses. The official visitor guide presents restaurants and public facilities around that experience. It is a place where the timing of a meeting is part of its identity, as much as the horses on the track.

Racing in both directions

Oi’s dirt racing can operate in both directions. Its official specifications distinguish right-handed racing on the inner and outer circuits from left-handed racing on the outer course, with different finishing-straight measurements. That is an unusual detail worth understanding before reading the map. A directional arrow must match the particular race route; it would be misleading to give the whole venue one permanent direction simply because many meetings use it.
