Royal Merchant is the first foal out of Seventhchic (Seventh Reason), who won three races, and her only runner so far. Seventhchic, one of only 14 foals by her sire, is a half-sister to Alburq (Rubick), third in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview.

Fourth dam All The Best (Kenmare) is a half-sister to Bint Marscay (Marscay), winner of the Gr.1 Golden Slipper Stakes and dam of Bollinger (Dehere), who won the Gr.1 Coolmore Classic and produced Friesan Fire (A P Indy), winner of the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby. All The Best is also a half-sister to Filante (Star Way), winner of the Gr.1 Epsom Handicap, and to Kenny's Best Pal (Bletchingly), who took the Gr.1 Australian Guineas.

Seventhchic has a colt born in 2021 by The Autumn Sun and a filly born in 2022 by Graff, and she was covered by Palace Pier last season.
