Alpine Star is out of the unraced Alpha Lupi (Rahy), also the dam of Alpha Centauri (Mastercraftsman), winner of four Group 1 races including the Gr.1 Irish 1000 Guineas, with top-level wins in England, France and Ireland. Alpha Lupi has also produced Tenth Star (Dansili), winner of the Listed Golden Fleece Stakes and second in the Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes.

The second dam East of the Moon (Private Account) won the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and the Gr.1 Prix de Diane, and her descendants include Molatham (Night of Thunder), winner of the Gr.3 Jersey Stakes.

The third dam is the champion Miesque (Nureyev), a ten-time Group and Grade 1 winner, dam of the champion sire Kingmambo and ancestress of Rumplestiltskin (Danehill) and her daughter Tapestry (Galileo), as well as Karakontie, Amanee (Pivotal) and Real Steel (Deep Impact).

Alpha Lupi has an unnamed yearling filly who is a full sister to Alpha Centauri.
