Gran Alegria is the first recorded foal of Tapitsfly (Tapit), a dual Grade 1 winner on turf in the US who earlier took the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, then a Listed race. Her full brother Blutgang (Deep Impact) is a winner.

Second dam Flying Marlin (Marlin) also bred Flying Tipat (Tapit), a full sister to Tapitsfly who was stakes-placed at Indiana Downs.

Fourth dam Pink Dove (Argument) won and was a half-sister to Golden Pheasant (Caro), winner of the Grade 1 Arlington Million in 1990, and to Seewillo (Pleasant Colony) and Trial By Error (Caro), both successful at Group/Grade 3 level. Pink Dove bred two stakes winners: Moonshine Hall (Spinning World), who finished third in the Grade 3 Toronto Cup H., and Malli Star (Baldski), who won two stakes and finished runner-up in the Grade 1 Del Mar Invitational Oaks. Malli Star is the dam of Bella Rheia (Narita Top Road), a stakes winner in Japan who was placed in a Classic and third in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup.
