Lei Papale is out of Shells Lei (Kurofune), multiple stakes-placed in Japan, who won three races and was twice second in Listed company at three. Her first four foals, all by Deep Impact, were all winners, the best of them Shining Lei, a full sister to Lei Papale and a multiple Group winner in Japan who took the Hopeful Stakes, then a Group 2, and the Gr.3 CBC Sho. Lei Papale is her eighth foal, and eight of her nine runners have won.

Second dam Oyster Ticket (Winning Ticket) is also the dam of the Group-placed Encore Plus (Deep Impact), the multiple stakes-placed Black Shell (Kurofune) and the stakes-placed Double Timpani (Sunday Silence).

Third dam Namura Pieris (Tosho Boy).

Further back in the family is Riki Eikan (Never Beat), champion 2-year-old colt in Japan in 1968.

Shells Lei produced fillies by Duramente in 2019 and by Daiwa Major in 2020 and was then covered by Real Impact.
