Hayasugi is out of the unraced China Road (Commands), who has three winners. The other two were both placed in city races: Dynastic (Love Conquers All), with nine wins, and Never Say Nay (No Nay Never), with four.

Second dam Bacchetto (Canny Lad) is also the dam of Bejewelled (Anabaa), stakes-placed as runner-up in the Listed Wiggle Handicap and a multiple city winner.

Third dam Gypsy Alert (Solitary Hail) produced the Group 3 winners Alert Me (Genghiz), who took the Gr.3 Frederick Clissold Handicap, and Techniques (Palace Music). Techniques is the dam of You're Canny (Canny Lad), winner of the Listed Black Opal Stakes.

Other recent black-type performers from the family include Vagrant (Pariah), placed in the Gr.3 Mannerism Stakes, while the Group 1 performers With Me (Covetous), Accomplice (Canny Lad) and Ugo Foscolo (Zacinto) are also relatives.

Hayasugi is China Road's most recent foal. The mare was covered by Jacquinot and Royal Meeting in spring 2023.
