Alpinista is out of Alwilda (Hernando), winner of the Listed Silbernes Band der Ruhr and stakes-placed in England, and is her first foal. She is one of two winners out of Alwilda, whose three-year-old filly Alpenblume (Kendargent) has been placed at Listed level in Germany.

The second dam Albanova (Alzao) was a champion and won three Group 1 races: the Gr.1 Preis von Europa, the Gr.1 Rheinland-Pokal and the Gr.1 Deutschland-Preis. She has produced nine winners, among them Algometer (Archipenko), winner of the Gr.3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup and placed at Group 2 level, Alignak (Sea The Moon), winner of the Listed Stand Cup and placed in the Gr.3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes, the Listed-placed Albamara (Galileo) and All At Sea (Sea The Stars), a triple Listed winner in France. All At Sea in turn produced Eldar Eldarov (Dubawi), winner of the Gr.1 St Leger.

The third dam Alouette (Darshaan) won the Listed Oyster Stakes, was placed in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and produced Albanova's full sister Alborada, a champion who won the Gr.1 Champion Stakes in consecutive years when it was run at Newmarket. Her other offspring include Algonquin (Archipenko), winner of the Gr.3 Festival Stakes, who raced in Australia as My Nordic Hero, Alvarita (Selkirk), winner of the Listed Prix Petite Etoile, the Group 2-placed sire Albion (With Approval), Alma Mater (Sadler's Wells), winner of the Listed Prix Belle de Nuit, the Listed-placed Albaraka (Selkirk) and Albinus (Selkirk), placed in the Listed Fred Archer Stakes. Alvarita is the dam of Alla Speranza, winner of the Gr.3 Kilternan Stakes, and of Altesse, winner of the Listed Noblesse Stakes and placed at Group 3 level. Alma Mater is the dam of the Group 3-placed Harrovian and Alumna, and Albaraka the dam of Alerta Roja, second in the Gr.2 Doncaster Cup. Alouette's descendants include Shine So Bright (Oasis Dream), winner of the Gr.2 City Of York Stakes, Albaflora (Muhaarar), second in the Gr.1 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes and the Gr.1 Yorkshire Oaks, and her grandson Dragon Dancer (Sadler's Wells), second in the Gr.1 Derby and later a sire.

This is also the family of Allegretto (Galileo), winner of the Gr.1 Prix Royal-Oak, and of Last Second (Alzao), winner of the Gr.2 Nassau Stakes and dam of Aussie Rules (Danehill), who won the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and became a sire.

Alwilda also has an unraced two-year-old colt by Oasis Dream and a filly foal by Iffraaj.
