Shadow Of Light is one of three winners out of Winters Moon (New Approach), who won on her debut and was later third in the Gr.1 Fillies' Mile. He is a three-parts brother to Earthlight (Shamardal), a Group 1 winner in England and France who took the Gr.1 Prix Morny and also won the Gr.1 Middle Park. Earthlight was champion two-year-old colt in France in 2019, won at Listed and Group 3 level at three and is now a sire.

Second dam Summertime Legacy (Darshaan) won the Gr.3 Prix des Reservoirs and was third in the Prix Saint-Alary, then a Group 1. She has seven other winners, among them Winters Moon's half-siblings Mandaean (Manduro), winner of the Gr.1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud, and Wavering (Refuse To Bend), who won the Prix Saint-Alary when it was a Group 1. Wavering in turn produced Life In Motion (Sea The Stars), a triple Listed winner and second in the Gr.1 Prix Rothschild, and the Group-placed pair Switching and Flowrider, both by Street Cry. Summertime Legacy is a half-sister to the grandam of Telepatic Glances (Pride Of Dubai), winner of the Gr.2 Premio Dormello.

Third dam Zawaahy (El Gran Senor) was a winner and a three-parts sister to the sire Golden Fleece (Nijinsky), unbeaten winner of the Gr.1 Derby in 1982.

Winters Moon has a yearling colt by Too Darn Hot and a foal who is a full-brother to Shadow Of Light.
