Desert Flower is the second of two live foals out of Promising Run (Hard Spun), a five-time Group winner with victories in the UAE, England and Turkey, among them the Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes at two and three Group 2 races in Dubai. Her first foal is Aablan (Dubawi), a three-parts brother to Desert Flower and winner of the Gr.3 Solario Stakes.

Second dam Aviacion (Know Heights) won the Gr.1 Grande Premio Zelia Gonzaga Peixoto de Castro in Brazil and bred eight other winners. Her daughter Arabian Comet (Dubawi) was second in the Lillie Langtry Stakes, then a Group 3, and her son Aqalim (Raven's Pass) was placed at Group 2 level over hurdles. She is a half-sister to the Brazilian Group 2 winner and sire Cerutti (Ghadeer), to Persane (Tampero), a Group 3 winner in Brazil placed at Group 1 level and dam of the Group 3-placed Caelius, and to Tipsy (Fort De France), a Group 2-placed winner in Brazil and dam of Eddington, a Group 1 winner in Argentina.

Third dam Arbulus (Liloy) raced only lightly in France and produced ten winners. She is also the grandam of Panama, a Group 1-placed winner in Brazil.

This is the family of the leading sire Sir Gaylord and of Secretariat.

Promising Run foaled a colt by Ghaiyyath on 3 March, her first foal since Desert Flower.
