Chain Of Lightning is the first filly or mare to win this race since at least 2020. The horse was an outsider, returned at decimal odds of 21. The five-year-old mare is by Fighting Sun out of Magic Art. The winning time was 1m 10.40s.
With this win, Yu Long Investments moved to 3 Group 1 wins this season, one win behind leader Godolphin in the owners' table. The owner also owned Espiona (sixth) and Magic Time (seventh) in this edition.
Chain Of Lightning is out of the winning mare Magic Art (Perugino), who has produced two winners: Chain Of Lightning and her full sister Magic Sunset. Magic Art is a half-sister to Blue Ruby (Lonhro), the dam of Glint Of Silver (Rubick), winner of the Gr.2 Autumn S.
Second dam Mardi's Magic (Kenny's Best Pal) won the Gr.2 Magic Night S. and is the grandam of Glint Of Silver. Her full sister Surrealist is the dam of Racing To Win (Encosta de Lago), a winner of several Group 1 races, and of Purrealist (Tale Of The Cat), winner of the Gr.3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude. Surrealist also bred the mare that produced Classique Legend (Not A Single Doubt) and Aethero (Sebring), both sprinters who won at Group 2 level.
Third dam Sunset Beach (Kenmare).
Fourth dam Hula Gold (Rheingold) is a half-sister to the Group 1 winners Hula Drum and Hula Chief, both by Marceau. The family traces back through Black Helen (Black Toney) to the celebrated matriarch La Troienne (Teddy).
Magic Art has an unraced 2-year-old gelding, Jaddaf (Magna Grecia), and a yearling filly by Better Land. She was covered by Jacquinot last spring.
