California Spangle is out of the late Pearlitas Passion (High Chaparral), who had nine foals, five of them winners. Among them is Wychwood Warrior (Lope De Vega), placed in the Listed Platinum S. and the Listed Patton S. in Ireland and once more at Listed level in the UAE. Pearlitas Passion is a half-sister to Shakespearean (Shamardal), winner of the Gr.2 Hungerford S. and the Gr.3 Solario S. and later a sire.

Second dam Paimpolaise (Priolo) was placed. Her half-sisters include Pont-Aven (Try My Best), winner of the Gr.3 Prix de Saint-Georges and dam of the Group 2 winners Sainte Marine and Josr Algarhoud, the latter a sire, and of the Listed winners Cap Coz and Traou Mad, as well as Albacora (Fairy King), who won the Listed Prix Herod and bred the Listed winner Hammiya, and the Listed-placed Labbasea (Last Tycoon).

Third dam Basilea (Frere Basile) was placed.

The family also includes the Group 1 winners Lily Of The Valley and Mubtaahij and the Group 2 winner Manuela De Vega, who was placed at Group 1 level.

Pearlitas Passion also has an unraced four-year-old filly, Alchimia (Fast Company), and her last foal, an unraced two-year-old full brother to California Spangle.
