Mostahdaf is the fifth of nine foals out of Handassa (Dubawi), a stakes winner in Ireland who took the Listed Garnet S., and one of her four winners. He is a half-brother to the champion Nazeef (Invincible Spirit), a multiple Group 1 winner in England whose successes include the Gr.1 Falmouth Stakes and the Gr.1 Sun Chariot Stakes.

The second dam Starstone (Diktat) was unraced and produced four other winners, among them Desert Stone and Euginio (both by Fastnet Rock). Desert Stone won the San Gabriel S., then a Grade 2, and was placed in the Frank E Kilroe Mile, then a Grade 1, while Euginio won the Gr.3 Darley Stakes.

The third dam Star (Most Welcome) won once and became an outstanding broodmare: with Bahamian Bounty she produced the Group 1-winning sires Pastoral Pursuits and Goodricke.

Handassa has a yearling colt by Kingman and a filly foal who is a full sister to Mostahdaf.
