Sun Goddess is out of the unraced Etoile Bleu (Starspangledbanner). She is the third of her four foals, her third runner and the only winner among them.

Second dam Holly Blue (Bluebird), a Listed winner in England, has seven winners from 11 runners and produced four black-type performers apart from Etoile Bleu, led by Gibraltar Blue (Rock Of Gibraltar), winner of three Group 2 races in South Africa and twice placed at Group 1 level, and Scream Blue Murder (Oratorio), winner of the Gr.3 Phoenix Sprint. Two more of her winners, Iiex Excelsa (Excelebration) and Blue Cabochon (Holy Roman Emperor), were black-type placed.

Third dam Nettle (Kris) won a Listed race and bred seven winners. She is also an ancestress of Missit (Orpen), a Grade 2 winner in the US.

Gibraltar Blue has bred four black-type performers, all winners: the Group-placed Battleoftrafalgar (Captain Al) and I'm A Fireball (Vercingetorix), Cullinan Blue and Pillar Of Hercules. Scream Blue Murder is the dam of three stakes performers, the best of them Too Soon To Panic (Gleneagles), winner of the Listed Victor McCalmont Memorial, placed at Group 2 level and in turn dam of Thesecretadversary (St Mark's Basilica), who won the Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat in 2026.

Etoile Bleu has a yearling filly by Blue Point, a half-sister to Sun Goddess.
