An English inspiration
Leopardstown’s design drew inspiration from Sandown Park in England, linking its origins with the development of purpose-built racecourses intended to improve the spectator experience. That influence places it within a wider movement to organise racing around permanent facilities and accessible viewing areas.
A course for both seasons
Leopardstown supports both Flat racing and National Hunt meetings, so a visit at a different time of year can bring a very different sporting atmosphere. Its fixture programme includes summer racing as well as major winter gatherings. The same grounds accommodate horses competing over the level and horses facing obstacles.
