Blue Bolt is out of Mayhem (Whipper), winner of the Gr.3 Prix Allez France. She is the fifth of seven foals and the sixth winner out of her dam. Mayhem is also the dam of Sea Theme (Sea The Stars), a triple Listed winner and a stakes winner in England and France, and the Listed winner Sky Angel (Dark Angel), a stakes winner in France, second in the Gr.2 German 1000 Guineas and the Gr.3 Prix Imprudence and Group-placed in France and Germany.

Second dam Hit The Sky (Cozzene) was unraced and has seven winners besides Mayhem. They include Royal Bench, a full sibling to Mayhem, winner of the Gr.2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein and second in the Gr.1 Hong Kong Mile, and the sire Memphis Tennessee (Hurricane Run), winner of the Gr.3 Ormonde Stakes, third in the Gr.1 Irish Derby and fourth in the Gr.1 Derby.

Third dam Cerulean Sky (Darshaan) won the Prix Saint-Alary, then a Group 1, and produced four winners, among them Honolulu (Montjeu), winner of the Gr.2 Doncaster Cup, third in the Gr.1 St Leger and a sire. She is a full sister to L'Ancresse, winner of the Listed Finale Stakes in Ireland and second in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and a half-sister to Moonstone (Dalakhani), winner of the Gr.1 Irish Oaks.

L'Ancresse is the dam of Sibila Spain, winner of the Gr.2 Prix du Muguet, and Master Of Reality, a Group 3 winner placed at Group 1 level. Moonstone produced Nelson, winner of the Gr.3 Ballysax Stakes, US Army Ranger, winner of the Gr.3 Chester Vase and second in the Gr.1 Derby, and Words, winner of the Gr.3 Munster Oaks. The family also includes Vega Magnifico (Lope De Vega), placed in the Listed Glencairn Stakes.
